Dave and Serena were married on a gorgeous day at Kimball Hall in Roswell’s historic downtown. This wedding was extra special to us because we had the opportunity to play for the long awaited union of some very good friends…Dave, a former bandmate from Funkle Ester, and his beautiful bride, Serena. Not only were The Highballs bestowed the honor of playing the reception, but we also had the opportunity to reunite with old friends, dust off some of the old Funkle tunes, and reunite the band for a mini-set.
The Musicsmiths played flute and guitar for the ceremony, which was held in the outdoor garden. Following a jazzy cocktail hour, the couple danced their first dance as husband and wife to our arrangement of “Come Away with Me” by Norah Jones. The evening was filled with personal touches…one of the highlights was Dave surprising Serena with a late night serenade of an old Marvin Gaye classic.
Special thanks to Brenda Upton Photography for providing us with these awesome shots from the reception. Check out the groom on the trombone!

Leslie & Mark chose the elegant and rustic Foundry Park Inn ballroom for their wedding reception. After a grand entrance to the The Blues Brothers’ “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love”, the bride and groom danced their first dance to Otis Redding’s “Thats’s How Strong My Love Is”. The Highballs played a mix of Leslie & Mark’s favorites from the ’80s that kept their guests dancing all evening. Special thanks to Melissa Pepin for providing us with this sampling of some of the awesome photos from the reception. Also, be sure to scroll down and check out this video from Annie’s Video Memories, featuring some great moments from the impromptu “Beat It” face-off that took place on the dance floor!

Ashley & Ryan chose The Melting Point for their reception…one of our all-time favorite venues for live music. The space is unique and the acoustics can’t be beat! It’s primarily an intimate music club where fantastic bands from all over the country come to play, but it is also an ideal location for receptions and private events.
The evening event featured fabulous food from The Foundry Park Inn and flowers by Gardenia Floral Design. Tracey Hickey with Consultants Unlimited coordinated the ceremony and reception and The Highballs provided the live entertainment. The band kicked off the dancing with Ashley and Ryan’s first dance… Jack Johnson’s “Better Together” and tons of ’80s followed to keep everyone dancing into the night.
Special thanks to Jason Thrasher for providing us with these great shots from the party!
Forrest and Nate said their vows on a lovely March afternoon in Athens, GA. As the weather cooled off into the evening, the party was heating up at the historic Taylor-Grady House. The striking outdoor reception featured flowers from Gardenia Floral Design and a fantastic dinner catered by home.made.
The Highballs played a set of live jazz standards and classics during dinner then kicked the party up a notch with some of the couple’s favorites. Forrest & Nate are big fans of New Wave & 80s but they love Motown and Rock classics, too, so the playlist for the evening was a great mix of party music for all ages. Despite the chilly weather, their friends and family packed the dance floor until the last dance.

Kristy & Donny chose The Hardeman-Sams House in Athens for their ceremony and reception. The ceremony took place in the lovely backyard garden, and the reception was spread throughout the historic house and grounds.
The wedding site was adorned with arrangements from European Floral Design and Trumps Catering prepared a delicious spread for Kristy & Donny’s family and friends. The bride and groom were looking to have a reception that was just a really fun, fabulous party with the guests dancing all night…and that’s exactly what they got! The Highballs played all of the couple’s favorite ’70s and ’80s rock and dance music and the crowd never stopped.
Athens photographer Wingate Downs was there to document the evening’s events. Here are some shots from “Foxy & Donny” ’s joyful celebration.
Valerie & Nick celebrated their marriage with a lively reception at The Classic Center’s Foundry Street Ballrooms. The beautifully restored warehouse space was an ideal location for the evenings festivities. Center Stage Catering prepared a lovely dinner and the couple and their guests danced the night away to the music of The Highballs. One highlight of the evening was a special dance with the bride and her brother to “Thank You for Being a Friend”, the song best know as the theme from TV’s “The Golden Girls”. Courtney Goldman captured the events of the evening with some awesome shots. Enjoy these images from the dance floor!
Bri & Eric were married at a charming spot on Lake Oconee on a very rainy afternoon. Although the weather didn’t cooperate, that didn’t stop the couple and their guests from having the time of their lives. Hallie Jane’s Catering provided a delicious spread and The Highballs kept the reception rockin into the night with Bri and Eric’s favorite 80s, classic rock and dance tunes. Check out these fabulous pictures of the party from Courtney Goldman Photography.
