Big news for all the engaged couples out there…
The Highballs have been hand-picked to perform LIVE at the Athens NotWedding!
The NotWedding is a bridal show alternative in the form of a big, fake wedding. “Wedding guests” are brides and grooms-to-be who enjoy an emotional ceremony, a tasty dinner (with cocktails) and a dance party reception while truly experiencing the wedding vendors in action.
It will take place on Thursday, September 12th at The Foundry Park Inn & Spa in Athens.
The “ceremony” begins at 7 and we’ll be performing at the “reception”, just after 8:00. This is a fantastic and rare opportunity for couples to see a live show in a wedding-like setting.
Get tickets and more information online at http://www.thenotwedding.com/events/athens/
Hope to see you there!
When I first spoke to Anna & Brant about their wedding plans, they painted a picture of a beautiful outdoor scene with a relaxed atmosphere that was just a ton of fun. When the big day came, it was clear that they couldn’t have done a better job of achieving that vision!
The rustic and casual Chukkar Farm Polo Club was decked out with colorful blooms in mason jars, an array of homemade cakes, a plentiful buffet and lots of charming DIY touches. A friend of the couple even provided kegs of home-brewed beer for the guests to enjoy! Everyone enjoyed a rockin’-good dance party with the band, and Anna and Brant had the laid-back, super-fun time with friends and family that they always wanted.
Anna’s thoughts on The Highballs:
“We were beyond impressed with The Highballs and their ability to transform our reception into one big party! The music was phenomenal and we were so grateful for the time they took to make our reception just perfect. They were so easy and delightful to work with and we are wishing we could throw another party so we could hire them again. They were truly the highlight of the reception and we still have friends raving about the music!”
Thanks to A.D. Photography for providing us with these wonderful shots from Anna & Brant’s day.
On Saturday May, 26th, join The Highballs for a retro-tastic extravaganza at
The Melting Point in Athens.
We’ll be busting out the ’80s duds and some totally awesome tunes. Lots of fun songs you’ve never heard us play that will blow your mind…to the max!
PLUS, a special bonus…
Athens Disco kings, Funkle Ester, are celebrating the 10 year anniversary of their first show (5/24/2002)! The Highballs’ own Meredith & Bryan’s former Funkle bandmates will be sitting in and putting on a mini-set of groovy tunes (feat. LIVE horns!) during the show. Don’t miss it ‘cuz it may not come again.

There is a little rule of thumb we always pass along to our wedding couples…when the bride has a good time, everybody has a good time. It seems simple enough, but the couple sets the tone for the party and if you want your guests to have a ball, you should plan to do the same. I can think of no better example of this principle in action than Margie & Drew’s wedding. We knew it was going to be a legendary evening when the bride and groom started dancing at sound check… hours before the ceremony began. Once the reception was underway, the guests followed suit and the floor stayed packed all night!
Margie’s thoughts on The Highballs:
“Are there words that could truly express just how much we think of The Highballs!? It was four years ago that I first saw them and at some point in the evening I text Drew and said, “if we ever get married can we PLEASE have this band at our wedding?” Booking them was the very first thing we did in the planning process and on September 24th, 2011 that text came to fruition and we could not have been happier! From word “go” Meredith was such a pleasure to work with and during our consultations whether via phone, email, or face to face, she was incredibly attentive, professional and yet I felt like she was a friend. There was never a doubt in my mind that everything we discussed would be delivered and boy did they ever! If we’ve heard once we’ve heard it a thousand times since that they were by far the most amazing band our guests had ever seen or heard. The dance floor never cleared the entire night and in the days following my knees were killing me due to the fact that I literally bounced from place to place around the tent. Every song was as good as the one before. Hands down THE BEST addition to our day. Already scheming the next big event where we can hire them again!”
